Innovation Rooted in Purpose Banele Madiba Shines at International Eskom Expo

At the recent International Eskom Expo for Young Scientists, where bright minds from countries like Mexico, Russia, and India gathered to showcase groundbreaking innovations, Banele stood out with a project that promises to revolutionize sustainable agriculture.

Banele introduced The Beta Boost — a pioneering fertilizer that harnesses magnetism and electricity to accelerate crop growth at twice the speed of conventional fertilizers, all while preserving the environment. This innovative approach not only impressed the judges but also demonstrated the power of science in solving real-world challenges. His project earned him a Gold Medal at the international level, a prestigious recognition that placed his at the top of her category. But the accolades didn’t stop there. Banele was also honoured by the Soil Society of South Africa for having the Best Soil Project at the Expo — a testament to the scientific rigor and environmental consciousness embedded in his work.

To further support his academic journey, Banele was awarded the UP NAS Bursary valued at R40,000, opening doors to future research and development in sustainable agricultural technologies.
