South African Actuaries Development Programme
SAADP was founded in 2003 to actively address the problem of the acute shortage of black actuaries in South Africa. Since its inception, SAADP, has produced over 490 graduates and 70 of whom have qualified as actuaries. Among other bursary providers, SAADP has been and still is the only actuarial development programme available in South Africa. As a programme, SAADP provides actuarial students with support programmes through its established infrastructure at the University of the Witwatersrand, the University of Pretoria, and the University of Cape Town. Getting a bursary approved for SAADP bursary and support is challenging as all applications go through a very stringent selection process. This process includes selection interviews conducted by the Selection Committee. It is therefore advisable to apply to other potential funding providers other than SAADP alone. According to ZAbursaries.com, the following companies may be considered:
- Capitec Bank Bursary.
- City of Johannesburg Bursary.
